My name is Lisa Ross and I am thrilled to come aboard the Oxford Counseling Center as an intern. I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Health Psychology from the University of Memphis. At the time, I did not utilize this degree, instead working in medical billing for nine years. I realized after this period of time my true passion was helping people, face to face. I decided to go back to school and obtained my Master’s degree in Human Services Counseling—Marriage and Family Therapy from Liberty University. I decided to continue my education at Liberty, and will complete my Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling in the spring of 2017 and continue to work towards licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor.

“Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.”—Arthur Ashe

This is my approach to helping clients. We all face difficulties in life and there is no universal “normal.” I have personally been through difficult life experiences, such as abuse, divorce, and single parenthood, but also have experienced healing. My approach is to help clients discover what they have within themselves and how they can find their own “normal.” Sometimes it just takes an objective ear, raw honesty, and different perspective to discover the power within us.

On a personal level, I enjoy reading, anything outdoors, spending time with family, cooking, and woodworking. I have an amazing, energetic, full of life six-year-old boy who is a walking miracle. Some of my absolute favorite things to do are play baseball with him and go on our mommy/son dates.
